Jesus wants us to look inwardly, to see what is really in our heart. A married man can say he never committed adultery, yet he is lusts at women. So what is the sin beneath the sin? As Christians, we are called to not follow the things of this world. We must not want what the world wants, but what God wants in our lives. I believe it’s true that we sometimes rank our sins and justify which ones aren’t as bad, but at the end of the day we all have a little hypocrisy in our lives. It is amazing though that our God is a forgiving God. We can repent and turn away from our sins. He still loves us no matter how often we fail Him.

Something I’ve been contemplating lately. Are you really following Jesus because you want to follow Him or are you using Jesus as an accessory to make yourself look good? Is it because everyone else is doing it? Are you saying that you follow Him, but your actions say otherwise? Really take time and think about why are you following Jesus. Is He just an accessory you wear everyday or your Lord and Savior?

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23

Jesus died in our place to give us His peace.

Don’t worry about it. I know it may be a hard time right now. God sees your struggles. God knows what you’re going through. God sees your situation. Never lose your trust in God. You can have the peace of knowing that you have a place in heaven. Jesus died for you to live your life. Don’t lose the faith! Don’t lose your trust! God will take care of you. God has everything in control.

Mark 10:17

As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

This story shows us that we must not let anything we have or desire keep us from following Jesus. What are things that hold you back from fully surrendering your life to God? What is stopping you from fully following Jesus? Maybe it could be hate, lust, money, tumblr, your boyfriend or girlfriend, pride, or job. These are some of things that could be pulling us down to fully commit to following God. Are you willing to give it up? We must remove all these barriers to fully serve Him. Eternal life is greater than these things that hold you back. Eternal life is worth giving up these things that you love to hold onto.
